FedEx & UPS offer some light at the end of a tunnel

It's been over a year now that the major parcel carriers discontinued their service guarantees on their package services and there hasn't been an end in sight....until now!

FedEx announced just last week on April 6th that they will be removing the restriction on a specific group of their services. This means that if these packages are even 60 seconds late you are eligible for a 100% refund. Read below to find out which services will reinstate their guarantees :

Domestic Services:

  • FedEx First Overnight

  • FedEx Priority Overnight

  • FedEx Standard Overnight

International Services:

  • FedEx International First

  • FedEx International Priority

  • FedEx International Priority Freight

Directly from their website:

"In order to balance our focus on service and safety, the FedEx money-back guarantee for all other FedEx Express®, FedEx Ground®, FedEx Freight® and FedEx Office® services will remain suspended until further notice."

The question on everyone's mind is: Did UPS do the same?

YES!

In fact, on April 5th, UPS announced a similar message and reinstated the guarantee for:

Domestic Services:

  • UPS Next Day Early

  • UPS Next Day Air

  • UPS Next Day Air Saver

International Services:

  • UPS Worldwide Express

  • UPS Worldwide Express Saver

  • UPS Worldwide Saver

  • UPS Worldwide Express Freight

Directly from their website: "Note: Until further notice, the guaranteed delivery time for UPS Next Day Air Saver® deliveries has been extended to end-of-day (11:59 p.m. on the guaranteed day of delivery). The Service Guarantee remains suspended for all other UPS shipments from any origin to any destination."

This is great news for parcel shippers! But even greater news for domestic shippers that have felt the added pressure from retailers like Amazon that are now requiring PRIME shippers to ship using 1-Day delivery methods.

After a tremendous slew of unexpected changes to pricing and overall service from each of the carriers due to the Corona Virus Pandemic, it's nice to see that little by little the industry and hopefully the world is getting back to a normal. This little bit of light at the end of the tunnel is hopefully one of the first steps in the right direction for shippers to begin experiencing the level of service they've always expected from the carriers.
